The Career and Personal Counseling Center is  a member of the Ministry Development Council a nationwide consortium of careers develoment centers working with a variety of denominations and their candidates for ministry. As a member of the Ministry Development Council, the Center follows the standards for ministry candidate programs set out by these denominations. Working together, these denominations have established the best ways to assess the skills and experience an individual brings to clergy life.

Formation for ministry is a journey made up of one's experiences and relationships over the years. Questionnaires, prepared in advance of the first interview, require introspection about one's personal history and accomplishments. The purpose is to enhance our assessment of self-awareness and person growth as well as one's impact on others.

Participation in this process also enables the candidate to gain an understanding, not only of his/her attributes, interest, capabilities and developments needs, but also of appropriate occupational direction within the context of professional ministry.

The inventories detail a range of personality traits found in all people. The purpose of their use is to provide a helpful comparison with traits known to be useful in the pastoral ministry as well as suggestions for personal growth that should improve the candidate's overall satisfaction and success in ministry.
